SOH Responds to Massport Strategic Plan
At the end of 2025, Massport released a draft Strategic Plan, which contained a section on Hanscom Field. In response, SOH prepared a detailed comment letter, which dealt with some misleading information provided in the Plan.
The Massport Plan continues to use language suggesting that private luxury jet flights are a pressing public need, despite the documented use for vacation and resort travel.
The Massport Plan continues to promote SAF as the environmental savior of private jet travel, despite its low environmental benefit and poor production prospects. Once more projecting technological salvation into a perpetually deferred future to ease public concern and postpone accountability.
Despite being a public authority chartered to serve the public good, Massport continues to suggest that it has an obligation to provide facilities and capacity to encourage the growth of the most carbon-intensive form of travel, used by a few wealthy individuals, and represents it as a public need.
